Learning Center and Tutor

So what are the benefits of a tutor as opposed to Learning Center and management, and what are the benefits for an organization to adopt what I call the culture of coaching? Performance and productivity improvement. This should be the number one criteria actually. A tutor brings out the best individuals and teams, something that a Learning Center cannot even dream of doing. As already stated earlier, personal development does not only mean doing a short course once or twice a year - if you are not really looking to stagnate the development of individuals, education should be a continuous process and a continuous process can only be initiated and developed by an individual (in this case a tutor) and not by some institution that always seems to be more focused on repeating the same things that brought success in the past. A learning center can definitely provide coaching, but there is very little scope for individual questions and answers and individual thinking. The very act of asking a question is pleasurable and it also values the person and the response he gets. So, a tutor is any day better than a learning center.

A learning center is more about one-way speaking and there is very little room for exchange of thoughts and if there is no exchange of thoughts, one cannot expect internal growth and development and that is why a tutor is always far more effective compared to a learning center. It is actually more like talking to a bunch of bricks who would never question back and partially absorb everything that has been thrown upon them. A very small example would help to explain the situation better. Once, a junior tennis player was asked about what he thought of the forehand and disquiet would very promising tennis player simply said “I don't know”. He knew nothing about it because no one ever asked him about it and that clearly proves that the institution he was getting coaching from had simply turn him into a machine that was programmed to imitate success and not create it!

However, that does not mean that a learning center cannot do any kind of good to any individual. The problem is that almost all the institutions that we have around here have some basic elements missing from them. Ideally, an institution should always encourage group interaction and creativity. It should focus on improving relationships and that people understand that by interacting and by continuously creating from inside a person would be able to create success and there is absolutely no need off imitating the processes that have earlier worked for other people to produce success. An institution in the form of a learning center should always respect individual opinion and small teams with individual set of responsibilities need to be created because otherwise students are going to end up becoming machines and an institution would never be able to come even close to a tutor as far as overall development is concerned.
